Enchanted Rock

Dear Enchanted Rock,
You are a cruel wonder. Why are you sitting there in the middle of Texas like a big, beautiful, stone heart? You didn't want us ascending upon you today. You mocked our endurance and agility. But the tricks you tried were useless on us. We laughed at your mind altering heat and steep callus formations. We climbed your unclear trails and patches of slippery rocks with ease. Acrophobia is not in our vocabulary.
We commend you on your poser peeks. We fell for your fake summit horizons everytime. We were sure the next one was the top, but you amusingly knew otherwise.
In the end it was the sky that kept us from the top. You won today. But you have not seen the last of us. We shall meet again and next time we will come prepared.
With much affection,
Aj, Catherine and Eoghan Burke
P.s. The cottonmouth at the end was a nice touch.
